About the Artist, Gary Katz:
 |
Located
inside an upper west side loft building, the Manhattan Motion premises are also
very different from the usual run-down dance studios one finds in New York City. When you
walk into the lobby, as well as both the dance studios, one of the first things you
notice is the beautiful display of framed, diverse original art that hangs on the walls. |
| These were
painted by Gary Katz, a self taught artist and the husband of studio owner Gabrielle
Taylor. |
| Gary
began painting to fill the void created by working in Corporate America, and has since
enjoyed success exhibiting his work at several solo and group shows in Manhattan. In
addition, some of his paintings have been used on television in the daytime dramatic
series "As The World Turns" and the CBS News Broadcast "CBS This
Morning". |
 |
| Gary also does wood sculpture, metal assemblage and furniture painting. |
 |
All
paintings get rotated periodically, so students that attend the studio on a regular basis
get to enjoy looking at a wide variety of works that are colorful, cheerful and pleasing
to the eye. The art work at Manhattan Motion is for sale, and Gary also accepts
commissioned work for both home and corporate settings. |
